And He's Off!!

Chase is officially walking! He's been "cruising" from couch to table to anything for about a month now. He would walk all over the house "holding" on to the wall, cabinets, couch, whatever he could get his hands on, but wouldn't let go. Just in the last few days, he's started to let go and take 2-3 steps at a time and would then sit. Tonight I would say it's official, he let go and walked down the hall! I couldn't beleive it. He is so proud of himself and gets excited when he realizes what he's' doing.

Watch me go!
Weeee, this is fun mommy!

Chase and Aunt Jess

My sister, Jessica, recently moved back to Texas. (WooHoo!) She and Chase have been spending lots of time together. It's really fun to watch him with her.

Yummmmm

This is what happens when you let a 12 month old feed himself beefaroni. HeHe....
Fun for Chase, lots to clean up for Mommy!

After I took this picture he wiped his mouth with his forearm.....

.....and then he rubbed his eye......

We went straight to the bathtub!

A new toy for Chase?

I don't think I need to say much about this photo. I just happened to have the camera closeby when I caught him in the act....of course it was great fun for him. At least the lid was closed!

Splish Splash

Here are a few pictures of Chase in his pool. It took some getting used to, but he seems to like it now, especially when the water has had an hour or two to warm up in this heat!

Bubbles....

Cheese!

Chase's First Haircut

We took Chase today for his first haircut. He was so good! He sat so still while the lady cut his hair. I was so proud of him. Jesse has been ready to get his hair cut for a while now. I was the one that kept putting it off. I was ready this time though, it was starting to get in his eyes. I guess boy's haircuts come a lot sooner than girl's first hairuts! She gave me an envelope with all the curls she cut off, and left a few on the back of his head so they will stick out under his hats.

Yum Yum

Ever since we've entered the world of table foods, I've tried to introduce Chase to as many different foods and textures as I can. Well, we've found something (among other things) that he really likes ... mini powdered donuts.

Do you think this may be because I ate so many of them while I was pregnant...? :)

Puppies!

Chase loves his puppies. They love him just as much. He affectionately calls them "dah-duh." I often will pull him around the backyard in his wagon and the dogs eagerly follow. They are at his side when we stop.

Here he is with Bailey.

Hey! That tickles!

...and Annabelle. She loves to fetch her ball.

This is right before Chase threw it to her. By "throw" I mean holding his hand over the edge of the wagon and letting go.....

And then she brings it back ... Chase says, ah mom, how many times do I have to do this?

Peekaboo!

Chase loves to play peekaboo....with anything.

or a book!

In and Out, Up and Down

One of Chase's birthday presents was his very own chair. He really likes it. Mostly, he climbs in and out of it and will sit occasionally. It will entertain him for a good 5 minutes or so which is great.

Here he is climbing in.....

and out.....

and now he sits! Notice the blurry hands where he is patting the arm rests.

Take me down to the River......

Jesse and I made a weekend trip to New Braunfels in July with 5 other couples. We left Chase with my Mom and Dad for the weekend, which we paid for the whole next week.....
We had a great time though, stayed in a condo right on the Comal river and spent Friday evening in Gruene. It was a nice weekend away. Here we are at the Gristmill Restaurant next to Gruene Hall.

Chase's First Birthday

If you had asked me a year ago if I'd ever have my own blog, the answer would have been "no." But as you can see, I've given in. Mostly because of limitations of the babysite I had originally created for Chase, but also because I think this will be a better way for everyone to keep up with us.
So where were we? Oh yes, Chase's first birthday. We had a small party for him, which I had debated about how many to invite, but it turned out to be a good decision since he wasn't feeling well. He was running fever the night before and through most of the day of his party. Poor little guy, of all days! He seemed to have a good time though once we started opening gifts. Below are a few pictures from the afternoon...

He wasn't quite sure what to do with his very own cake!!
